Notion AI is the best AI productivity add-on for teams already living in Notion. The database Q&A and summarization features deliver real time savings. But if you're not a Notion power user, standalone AI tools offer more flexibility at a lower total cost.

Blog post draft: Asked it to write a 1,500-word article. The output was structured and readable but generic. It lacked the brand voice control of Jasper and the nuanced prose of Claude. Felt like “competent but forgettable” writing.

Editing existing text: This is where it works better. Highlighting a rough paragraph and asking Notion AI to “make it more concise” or “make it more professional” consistently produced good results. It’s a useful polish tool.

Translation: Translated a 2,000-word English document to Korean. Quality was comparable to DeepL — solid for internal use, but you’d want human review for published content.

Summary generation: Fed it a 15-page meeting notes document. The summary captured all key decisions and action items. This is the writing feature we used most.

This is Notion AI’s killer feature. If you have structured data in Notion databases (projects, tasks, contacts, inventory), you can ask natural language questions:
